The University of Washington’s Lean program started in 2010. The team has a dedicated space in the Creative Communications building that serves as our “Lean Center,” where we share our approach, conduct most of our team launch events, training, open houses, focused exercises and tours.
We have hosted a wide variety of Campus and non-UW visitors, who are interested in our Lean journey. Lean tours include an orientation to our approach at the Lean Center and a visit to a team practicing our 4 Key Systems approach.
Among our public sector visitors have been the State’s Departments of Corrections, L&I, Health, Enterprise Services, Military, and Ecology, along with the “Results Washington” staff in the Governor’s Office. Local public-sector visitors include Port of Seattle, King County, Seattle Public Schools, and Sound Transit.
Higher Education groups have come from Cornell University, University of Utah, Pepperdine, the University of California System (CFO’s Office), WSU and Stanford University and corporate visitors include members of the Northwest Quality Forum--Starbucks, Microsoft, Boeing, Group Health, PEMCO Insurance, and Children’s Hospital.
A guided tour through the Lean Center with an F2 Lean coach that includes personal perspectives of the coach’s experience with Lean (challenges, successes, insights) without a team visit is available upon request. Email the UW Lean Team for more information.
